About Me

My Story

I am first and foremost a storyteller, as all content creators consider themselves.

If you had asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up while I was in elementary school, I would have said a detective. Then, at some point, I wanted to be a reporter. Fast forward to my time at Freedom High School, and I fell into the world of poetry. Not wanting to put pressure on my creative writing to become my money maker, I majored in video production.

Through those four years, I wound myself back up at the very place I started. A reporter, which is in many ways, a detective.

As a graduate of the Klein College class of 2017 from Temple University with a degree Media Studies and Production and a focus in Media Business and a minor in Environmental Studies, I completed the Dow Jones News Fund Business Reporting residency at NYU, and am now spending my summer in the Editorial department of the Advertising Specialty Institute writing for four business magazine publications. In this role, I am focusing on writing business profiles, identifying industry trends, and conducting interviews with ad specialty pros.

I want to pursue business reporting because it touches every story. It affects how people spend or invest their money. So often people major in journalism because they're afraid of numbers. I was one of those people. My family has endured financial problems through my life, so I have always been afraid of money and numbers. Now, I've realized that there is power in fact, and facts can be based in data. There is nothing more exciting. This is why I want to pursue business journalism.

My professional experience is compromised of news, video production, and editorial. During my senior year at Temple, I was the assistant producer for TUTV's Media Inside Out, a show that critically analyzes media and approaches media literacy in many contexts, and for Temple Update, a weekly live news broadcast. I also worked in broadcast television with Philadelphia's PHL17 as a morning news intern. I have additional experience in sporting reporting and production with Service Electric Cable TV in the Lehigh Valley with their program, Sports Scene. Outside of broadcast in social media management and marketing as I held multiple internships with communication departments of both non-profit organizations and for-profit companies.

I am always looking to learn new skills and further develop my professional experience. I have a part-time job at Chipotle Mexican Grill that allowed me to grow as an individual ready to work hard and dedicate my talents to a purpose. My professional interests include broadcast television, social media management, creative writing, sustainability, and environmental studies. I have volunteer interests in the green community that started on my college campus and now extend throughout Philadelphia.

I am looking to continue my career in New York City and learn from the best within the business and financial journalism world. This online portfolio will keep up to date with my employment and publications.
